8.13 Understand and use elements of the French grammatical system, including word order, gender and number variation, present and compound forms of regular and some irregular verbs. [Key concepts: grammar, gender, number; Key processes: noticing, applying, explaining]
LEARNING ACTIVITIES AND LINKS:
ASSESSMENTS THIS WEEK:
- You will learn the vocabulary for family members and some pets (cat and dog).
- You will learn that French nouns are either masculine or feminine.
- You will learn to identify which nouns for family members are masculine and which are feminine (e.g.: le cousin, la cousine)
- You will learn the definite articles ‘le, la, les’ and when to use them (e.g.: le père, la mère, les parents)
- You will learn that nouns that commence with a vowel use the definite article l’ (e.g.: l’oncle)
- You will learn the familiar terms for family members (eg: papa = daddy, maman = mummy

- Now, you will complete screens 1-24 of iCSF Module 2 - Situation 1 on your iPad.
- Then, complete the Final Quiz on screen 24 of iCSF Module 2 on your iPad.

- Discussion forum: Tu as des frères ou des sœurs? Answer this question in our discussion forum (See below). Do you have any brothers or sisters? Follow the examples given in the class poll to formulate your answer. Make sure you use the correct gender and number for your nouns. You can also follow the example to use the negative expression if you do NOT have any brothers or sisters.
